New Delhi: To prevent further untoward incidents of violence during protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), the government has closed down eight metro stations in Delhi. Section 144, which prohibits assembly of more than 4 persons, was imposed near the Red Fort in the national capital.
The Delhi Police has also not granted permission for march of the Communist party against CAA from Mandi House to Jantar Mandar. The police has also withheld its permission to ‘Hum Bharat Ke Log’ march against the CAA from Red Fort to Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park.
Section 144 is also imposed in Karnataka for three days and protests against CAA is not allowed. The Chief Minister of the State, B. S. Yediyurappa, said, “I request Muslim friends, you’ll face no problem because of this act. We all are here for you. Please cooperate. Let’s maintain peace. No protest for or against. Section 144 is in place. Request everyone to cooperate.
