Yogi Adityanath gets tough against violent protesters in the name of CAA: Warns that properties of those indulged in violence will be confiscated

Lucknow: As the protests against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) gets violent, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, has come out with a tough message. He has said that properties of arsonists will be confiscated and auctioned off.

Yogi Adityanath said, “I have called a meeting over this. You cant indulge in violence in name of protest. We will take strict action against such elements. Will seize property of those found guilty and compensate damage to public property.”

The Chief Minister’s message comes after protesters resorted to stone pelting and arson in Lucknow and other parts of the state. Many vehicles and police chowki were set on fire and the police had to use tear gas and lathi charge to get the unruly crowd in control.

Violence was also witnessed in parts of Sambhal and Mau districts. Internet services were blocked at various places in Aligarh, Sambhal, Mau, and Azamgarh districts. Section 144 is imposed in many parts of the state.
