Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath government has commenced to seal the properties of the rioters in several districts of the state on Saturday.

Earlier on Thursday, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had announced tough measures to combat the anti-citizenship amendment act (CAA) rioters, and promised to seize the property of every rioter and use its funds to repair the damaged public property.

According to reports, by far 50 shops belonging to alleged rioters have been sealed. CM Yogi is personally monitoring the situation.

The action is being taken by the administration to punish those allegedly responsible for violence. Sources said the campaign is expected to act as a deterrent.

In Gorakhpur, police said that they have spotted 50 trouble-mongers from video footage. Also the UP police claimed that they recovered 405 shells of country-made pistols from protest sides across the state and arrested 705 people and lodged 124 FIRs.

Yogi Adityanath on Saturday had appealed to religious leaders and influential people to come forward and discharge their responsibilities in the wake of the violent protests over the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA).

“The Citizenship Act ensures guarantee of security to each Indian citizen,” Yogi Adityanath said in a statement.
