New Delhi: The first Chief of Defence Staff of India will be declared shortly. The Central Government will announce the charter and role of the nation’s first Chief of Defence Staff. The Chief of Defence Staff will be the single-point advisor to the government regarding all military affairs.
The government aims to make the CDS the authority of the tri-service operations, cyber, space and special forces commands. Central government’s focus is to create more synergy in the functioning of the Air Force, Navy and the Army. The CDS will be the link between the central government and the forces.
The Centre is expected to declare the CDS today itself. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval had prepared the list of officers for the post of CDS. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had already hinted the appointment of first CDS for the nation on last Independence Day.
