New Delhi: Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, said that there is no connection among National Register of Citizens (NRC), Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), and detention centers. He said that misinformation was spread in the matter. He added that present government has not created any detention center after gaining power.

The Union Minister was speaking to ANI News when he made this statements. He said that the detention center has been there for years and is used for illegal migrants. And added that there is no such other center.

Amit Shah said that if a person without valid documents is caught in America, he or she will be kept in detention centers or any related arrangement  and the process of contacting the respective country’s embassy begins.

He said, “There is no connection between the detention center and NRC or CAA. The center has been there for years and is for the illegal migrants. Misinformation is being spread on this.”

The Union Home Minister added, “We have also made several tribunals for this and nobody has been kept in the detention center. 19 lakh people who have been excluded from the list there are staying at their home only.”

The government has given six months time for those people excluded from the NRC list in Assam to approach the Foreigners Tribunal.
