Ahmedabad: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Tuesday accused the Congress and asked why they were opposing Citizenship Amendment Act if they follow Mahatma Gandhi.
“Mahatma Gandhi had said that when the people who are in these three countries come to India they should be accepted. I ask Congress to give an answer on why they are opposing CAA if they follow Gandhiji,” Rupani said.
Rupani was addressing a rally conducted in support of CAA.
“Muslims have 150 countries while Hindus have only 1, then why are you having problem?” he added.
“Today we are holding this rally in support of the CAA from where Mahatma Gandhi started the freedom fight against Britishers. Many are playing vote bank politics over CAA,” he said.
