Chennai: The violent rhetoric of the anti-CAA protesters have turned more virulent today. A Tamil poet, Nellai Kannan, publicly called for the killing of Indian Home Minister, Amit Shah, by Muslims. He was speaking at a protest speech organized by Islamic extremist organization, Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI).
A national media reported that Nellai Kannan said, “If his story is finished, then the story of the PM would also be over. I was expecting something to happen, but no Muslim is doing it.”
Nellai Kannan is reported to be pro-Congress and appears in public as a Congress activist. BJP spokesperson Narayanan Thirupathy has filed a complaint against Kannan for his highly controversial and hate speech. Many organization have come out against the poet’s statements.
A call to ban the SDPI in Tamil Nadu is also raised by these organizations.
The Tamil Nadu BJP unit said that the people of the state are shocked by Nellai’s statement and asked the police to take strong action against him.
The AIADMK party in a statement said that everybody is entitled to their views but should not forget the limits.
SDPI is widely known for extremist Islamic views and its members are suspect in many communal violence. States such as Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh are planning to ban the organization after it was found to be behind many violent incidents during the anti-CAA protests.
