New Delhi: The new Army Chief, General M. M. Naravane, spoke his mind about terrorism, Article 370, and the newly created Chief of Defence Staff (CDS). He said that after Article 370 the incidents of terrorism has declined in the valley. He also warned that Pakistan has been using terrorism as a state policy for long.
The Army Chief said that there is a definite improvement in the situation on the ground in Kashmir and the number of terror related incidents have come down.
The General said that there are many launch pads across the LoC and terrorists are waiting there to enter India. However, he added that they will not succeed as the Indian forces are fully prepared to tackle any eventuality.
Naravane reminded that, “Terrorism is a worldwide problem, India has been at the receiving end of terrorism for a long time. It is only now that the entire world and many countries affected with terrorism are coming to realise what a threat it is.”
The General also welcomed the decision to create the Chief of Defence Staff post and said that it would bring interaction and synergy between the three services.
He said, “We are very happy with the creation of the post of CDS. The appointment has not happened overnight. The proposal has been in pipeline for a decade. It has been the need of the hour. It will bring better interaction and synergy between the three services.”
