Chennai: The Tamil writer and orator, Nellai Kannan, who made a hate speech against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister, Amit Shah, has been arrested from Perambualur. An FIR was registered against him for the speech he made at an event organized by Islamic extremist group SDPI.
The event was organized to oppose the Citizenship Amendment Act by SDPI on 29 December. During his speech, Nellai Kannan, said that he was shocked why Muslims have not yet killed the Prime Minister and Home Minister.
Nellai Kannan is a Tamil writer and orator who is part of many television shows. His arrests follows after BJP filed a complaint against him and sought his arrest and prosecution.
The BJP staged protests against Nellai Kannan’s hate speech against the Modi and Shah. Many BJP leaders were detained by the police for raising slogans during the protests conducted at Marina Beach.
