Mumbai: Ranjit Savarkar, the grandson of Veer Savarkar, made several requests for an appointment with Uddhav Thackeray, the chief of Shiv Sena and the Maharashtra Chief Minister but was denied repeatedly.
His reason to visit the Chief Minister was to discuss about the Congress Seva Dal’s anti-Savarkar booklet being distributed by the Congress party in a training camp. The booklet contains unverified allegations about the great freedom fighter. The Congress deliberately was trying to insult Savarkar.
However, Shiv Sena chief, who had once publically stated that anyone who insults Savarkar must be beaten up is silent on the issue. His predicament comes because he is the Chief Minister by the support of Congress and NCP.
Ranjit Savarkar said, “He didn’t have a minute to talk to me even when it’s about Savarkar ji’s respect. I am highly disappointed. It is an insult to Savarkar ji.”
