Washington: While protests are continuing against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), the Indian diaspora in the United States came out on to the streets of several cities in that country in support of CAA. Many events were held across many cities like Seattle, Chicago and Atlanta to express their support for the Act

The CAA was termed as an historic step by the Indian government by the Indian Americans and they were able to create awareness about the misinformation being spread about the purpose of the CAA in the United States.

Many groups of Indian Americans gathered together and raised placards which read “CAA is not anti-Muslim” and “CAA is inclusive and not discriminatory”.

An organizer of the event, Archana Sunil said, “This was a promise made by several leaders at the time including Gandhi, Patel, Nehru and others and the CAA is simply keeping that promise. ”

Around 100 Indian Americans gathered in Atlanta in front of the CNN headquarters to show their support and solidarity to the Indian government. The rally was to expose the distortion of facts spread by various political parties and media outlets both in India and the United States.

An organizer, Rajiv Menon said, “India is our motherland and we are extremely passionate about it and can’t tolerate anybody who is spreading lies and hatred against India to destroy its secular image.”

Newly appointed Foreign Secretary and Indian Ambassador to US, Harshvardhan Shringla said that a lot of misinformation and disinformation is spread about CAA in the US.
