Justice at last: All the rapists in Nirbhaya case to be hanged on 22 January at 7 am

New Delhi: Finally justice has been bestowed in the Nirbhaya case. The Addition Session Judge, Satish Kumar Arora at Patiala House court has signed the death warrants of all the four convicts who raped and brutally killed a 23-year old paramedical student in Delhi. The incident had shook the consciousness of India and led to massive protests across the country.

All the four convicts Akshay Thakur, Mukesh Thakur, Mukesh Singh, and Vinay Sharma will be hanged on 22 January at 7 am. They are currently lodged at Tihar Jail.

The convicts are given fourteen days to redeem the legal remedies available. It includes mercy pleas and curative petitions.

Nirbhaya’s mother Asha Devi said, “January 22 will be a big day for us. My daughter has got justice.”

She added, “…Execution of the four convicts will empower the women of the country. This decision will strengthen the trust of people in the judicial system.” She also thanked the judge and the judiciary for the verdict.
