Mumbai: DCP Mumbai Police said that two FIRs have been lodged against former JNU student and activist Umar Khalid for holding protest from Hutatma Chowk to Gateway of India and unlawful assembly at Gateway of India.
To show solidarity to the students of JNU after violence in the campus, students and activists along with several Bollywood artists held protest at Gateway of India.
In 2018 Bhima Koregaon violence, Umar Khalid along with Jignesh Mevani was booked under a first-information report for giving ‘provocative’ speeches in Pune. The criminal charges against Mevani and Khalid was for promoting enmity between different groups through their speeches.
Umar Khalid was also one among those ‘Tukde- Tukde’ gang.
