New Delhi: The Delhi Police have today released pictures of nine individuals suspected of fomenting trouble in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). Out of the nine suspects, seven are from left wing organizations. JNU Student’s Union President, Aishe Ghosh, is one of the accused person named by the police.

Delhi Police’s Special Investigation Team head, Joy Tirkey revealed that four organizations including SFI and AISA of JNUSU are largely responsible for violence on 5 January and on the two days preceding it.

The perpetrators had also formed a WhatsApp group called ‘Unity Against Left’ just before Sunday’s violence and its administrator is one of the accused.

The pictures of the suspects were shown by the Delhi police at a press conference today. The pictures were from the CCTV installed at JNU campus.

Investigation is still going on and the police has said that further press briefings will be there to reveal the details behind the violence.

Meanwhile, ABVP National General Secretary, Nidhi Tripathi, said, “The world came to know of the acts of violence that happened in JNU on January 5. We want that the investigation is carried out and the accused are severely punished.”

She accused that some persons who are suspects in the case is playing the victim card to escape from their role in the violence.

Nidhi Tripathi also said that the police must investigate about the Whatsapp group which was constituted just before the violence took place. She said that police must probe the chats in the Whatsapp group.

Tripathi also extended the support of ABVP in the investigation and asked the police to finish the probe as soon as possible.
