Bengaluru: Six activists of the Islamic extremist organization, Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), were arrested by Bengaluru police for allegedly planning to kill BJP leader and MP, Tejasvi Surya last month. The plan was to kill him during a pro-CAA march held by BJP.
The BJP Karnataka unit in a tweet said, “These are the six killers of #SDPI arrested by @BlrCityPolice. It is shocking that they had planned to kill BJP MP @Tejasvi_Surya & Activist @astitvam at the #CAA rally in Bengaluru. It is high time Islamic Organisations that support Violence & Terrorism are banned.”
The six members of SDPI first tried to attack Tejasvi Surya and a right wing leader Chakravarthy Sulibele on 22 December for taking part in a pro-CAA rally. The aim was to create a lot of disturbance in Bengaluru city on 22 December said the Police Commissioner, Bhaskar Rao.
The arrested SDPI activists are Irfan, Syed Akbar, Syed Siddiqui, Akbar Basha, Sanaulla and Sadiq Amin.
These SDPI members tried to create chaos during the rally by throwing stones so that people will flee leaving the leaders alone and vulnerable to attack. However, the stones missed the target and their plan failed. They then attacked RSS worker Varun while he was supplying water and taking care of the participants of the rally. He was saved by timely medical assistance.
The Commissioner said that the case is now investigated by the Anti-Terror Squad.
Tejasvi Surya, one of the youngest MP in Parliament, said, “SDPI is an organisation, which has not been banned yet. The SDPI has become strong because the then chief minister, Siddaramaiah dropped cases against its members.”
