Srinagar: In an interview, the Union Minister for Minority Affairs, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, said that the central government will provide more than one lakh scholarships to students in Jammu and Kashmir. He elaborated about the government’s effort to bring in development to the state free of corruption.

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi added that 10 lakh scholarships will be provided in the next five years and every student from 1st standard to gradation will get the scholarship.

He said, “All students from J&K, from 1st standard to gradation, will get the scholarship after applying.”

Speaking about developmental projects he said that the government is focusing on three ‘E’s to bring back development in the state which are Employment, Education, and Empowerment. He said that people were fed up with the corruption that was rampant in the state.

The Minority Minister also said that the Haj quota for Jammu and Kashmir will be increased and also the lot system which was in place before will not be in place anymore for the state. He said that all the applicants will make it for the annual pilgrimage.

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that there is no atmosphere of fear in the state and there is no violence and civilian killings which is a big revolutionary change.

He accused some families which were looting public money when Article 370 was in place. Now it has changed and the state is moving ahead.
