New Delhi: The Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union (JNUSU) has again showed the world that they are dead against the unity of India. The JNUSU has condemned the police arrest of the organizer of Shaheen Bagh sit-in, Sharjeel Imam, who had publically made a call to Muslims to make North East separate from the rest of India.
The JNUSU says that RSS and BJP wants to criminalize Muslims on an unprecedented state. However, they are silent about the anti-national statements made by Sharjeel Imam and the way he is openly speaking on communal lines.
Five states have brought charges against Imam for sedition and for fomenting enmity between communities. The states are Delhi, Assam, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh which have booked him for his controversial anti-national statements in a student’s protest in Aligarh Muslim University on 16 January.
Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, has said that Sharjeel Imam’s words are even dangerous than Kanhaiya Kumar’s speeches.
The Delhi police arrested Sharjeel Imam today and is being brought to Delhi. He was on the run for a few days after charges were made against him.
