Kokrajhar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a speech at Kokrajhar in Assam has welcomed all those who joined mainstream from the Bodo Land Movement. He also acknowledged the support of the organizations who made the Bodo Accord a reality.

The Prime Minister said, “Today is the day to acknowledge the support of all the young people belonging to All Bodo Students Union (ABSU), National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB), BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary & Assam Govt, who played a very positive role for this agreement.”

Modi is addressing the mega event organized in Kokranjhar to celebrate the signing of the Bodo Accord. This is his first visit after anti-CAA protests in the state.

On 27 January, four factions of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) signed the treaty with the Ministry of Home Affairs. The agreement saw the surrender of over 1,500 cadres of the NDFB.

The signing of the treaty is a major success of the Modi agreement because the Bodo groups have been demanding a separate state for the past 50 years. The region witnessed many killings running into hundreds of lives over the past five decades. The present government has successfully brought all the fighting factions to the table and was able to make them agree on the Bodo Accord.
