Jammu & Kashmir: The Jammu and Kashmir Police’s dossier prepared against former Chief Minister and National Conference leader, Omar Abdullah, says that his considerable influence over the people and his ability to provoke them against revoking Article 370 and 35A was a reason to charge him under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) against him.
Omar Abdullah had tried to provoke the people against removing Article 370 and 35A just before it was revoked. He had also taken to social media against the Central government’s decision which had the potential to create disturbances.
The dossier against People’s Democratic Party leader, Mehbooba Mufti, accuses her for supporting banned organizations like Jamaat-e-Islamia and her statements against security forces for killing militants.
Both Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti are under preventive detention since 5 August last year when the government revoked Article 370 and 35A. On 6 February both the leaders were charged under the PSA.
