New Delhi: The verdict of the people of Delhi will be known within a few hours now as the counting of votes for the Assembly began at 8 am. The Delhi Assembly has 70 seats and both AAP and BJP are in a tight contest. As much as 62.59% of eligible voters had come out to vote out of the 1.4 crore people on the voters’ list.
The voting conducted amid tight security with as many as 190 companies of Central Armed Police Forces been deployed in addition to 19,000 Home Guards and 42,000 Delhi Police personnel. Heavy security is also provided at the counting stations to prevent any untoward situation.
AAP leadership had deployed cadres where the voting machines were kept. In a bid to create confusion they said that the voting machines will be rigged.
At the initial phase AAP is leading in 34 seats with BJP having a lead in 12 seats while Congress is making headway only in 3 constituencies.
