Prime Minister says that major action by his government is yet to come

New Delhi: Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has hinted that the many decisions taken by his government’s second term was just a sample and major action is yet to come. He said that India is working on a decade action plan.

The Prime Minister was speaking at the Times Now Summit 2020 in New Delhi.

He also cited out the achievements of his government such as regularizing unauthorized colonies in Delhi, law against child abuse, abrogation of Article 370, Ram Temple, ban on triple talaq, reduction in corporate tax, buying of fighter jets, amendment of citizenship law, creation of post of CDS in the military, etc.

Narendra Modi said, “This is just the sample; actual action begins here. I can non-stop count such decisions; it will not just be a century but a double century of decisions.”

He added, “Changes happening in the country have given confidence to the society. The poor are today confident about uplifting their standard of living.”

The Prime Minister spoke about making India a $5 trillion economy and said that it is not an easy task. He stressed the importance of a jump in manufacturing sector and exports for the country to achieve the goal. He said that his government has taken many steps to facilitate the growth.

Narendra Modi also spoke about the importance of smaller cities in driving economic growth in the country. He said that economic centres in the tier two and tier three cities will be increased because highest number of poor people and working class live in these cities.

In addition half of the start ups are also located in these smaller cities.

Speaking about the success of ‘Make in India’, he said, “It is helping the nation. 1,90,000 crore electronic products were manufactured in 2014 in the country. Now the figure has increased to 4,60,000 crore. In 2014, there were two mobile manufacturing companies in India. Today, India is the second-largest mobile manufacturer in the world.”

On the tax front he said that fewer people are paying their taxes. He pointed out the importance of taxes, which helps in developing infrastructure and public welfare and said that it is important that every citizen fulfil his duties and responsibilities towards the nation.
