New Delhi: A Delhi court has slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 on senior Congress leader Shahi Tharoor after failing to appear for a hearing in the defamation case filed by BJP leader Rajiv Babbar.
A defamation case was filed against Tharoor after his alleged “scorpion sitting on a Shivling” remark on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Vishal Pahuja strongly directed Tharoor to appear before the court on the next date of hearing on March 4.
