Bengaluru: The Karnataka police has brought back the underworld don, Ravi Pujari, from Senegal, where he was in hiding and controlling his criminal activities in India. He was in hiding in many African countries and ran a lucrative hotel business in Burkina Faso under a false identity, Antony Fernandez.

The gangster was arrested by Senegal police in January last year after Indian police intimidated the Senegalese police about the criminal’s background. However, a court case ensued in which Ravi Pujari claimed that he was not Ravi Pujari as accused by Indian investigators.

However, Ravi Pujari, failed to convince the Supreme Court of Senegal and Indian investigators won the case against him.

Ravi Pujari has over 100 cases in various police stations in India. He is also said to be involved in a shooting incident at a beauty parlour in Kochi, which had garnered huge media attention.

Known for his association with Chhota Rajan’s gang, he later spilt with him and began his own gang and expanded his illegal activities.

The extradition of Ravi Pujari is another win for Indian security forces to bring back criminals who have left India for safe havens. However, the long arm of the law has finally caught up with the elusive criminal.
