Lucknow: After the meeting of the Uttar Pradesh’s Sunni Central Waqf Board on Monday, have arrived a big decision. The board has accepted the 5 acre land allotted by the UP government for construction of a mosque.
Not only a mosque will be constructed but also a charitable hospital, public library and Indo-Islamic cultural center will be built at the site.
A senior board person said that members first decided whether to accept the land or not, and later whether to construct a mosque or any other institution there.
Earlier on Sunday, board chairman Zufar Farooqui had told PTI, ” We have already said about honouring the Supreme Court verdict on the Ayodhya issue.”
Last November, the Supreme Court pronounced its landmark verdict on the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute, favouring the construction of Ram Temple. It also ruled that an alternative five-acre plot must be found for a mosque within Ayodhya.
