New Delhi: Delhi police said that the situation in north-east Delhi continues to be tense after violence erupted yesterday during anti-CAA protests. The police have detained the gun wielding anti-CAA protester, Shahrukh, who opened fire at police during the clashes.
Since yesterday, 5 persons have been killed including a police constable named Ratan Lal. Another 105 persons have been injured in the clashes. The Delhi police informed that they are receiving calls from north-east Delhi about incidents of violence.
Late last night, Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, held meeting with top Home Ministry officials and senior police officers to take stock of the law and order situation in Delhi.
Cases of stone pelting between two groups have been reported from Brahampuri area at north-east Delhi today morning. Schools in the region will remain closed today in view of the violence.
