Centre will not tolerate violent protests, strict action to be taken says G Kishan Reddy

Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy on Tuesday said that the Centre will not tolerate such violent protests like that happened in Delhi yesterday.

Reddy said, “We’ll take strict action against people involved in the violence in Delhi yesterday. Since 2 months there was dharna but centre gave a chance for peaceful demonstrations & protests. But yesterday’s violence won’t be tolerated.”

Reddy also urged the political parties to respect US President Donald Trump’s visit in Delhi.

“Today the US President is in Delhi. I request the political parties to respect it. There can be talks regarding any issue,” he said.

Reddy also slammed AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi for alleging that the Delhi Police took side of the rioters to pelt stones, saying, ” he has made the statement irresponsibly”.

35 companies of paramilitary forces have been deployed in North East Delhi along with Special Cell, Crime Branch and Economic Offences Wing (EOW) officials. Local police from different districts of Delhi have also been called in.

Violent clashes broke out in North- East Delhi on Monday during anti-CAA protests. Cases of stone pelting between two groups have been reported from Brahampuri area at north-east Delhi today morning. The police have detained the gun wielding anti-CAA protester, Shahrukh, who opened fire at police during the clashes.

A tire market shop was also set on fire by the rioters.

According to latest reports by the Delhi police, seven people lost their lives – 1 police personnel and 6 civilians. Over 100 have also been injured in the clashes.
