New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed the curative petition of one of the convicts Pawan Kumar Gupta. The petition had sought commutation of his death penalty to life imprisonment.
With this dismissal, all the four convicts have exhausted their legal remedies.
The bench comprising Justices N V Ramana, Arun Mishra, R F Narima, R Banumathi and Ashok Bhushan held that no ground was made out for interference.
Due to the dismissal and the mandatory 14-day span, the scheduled hanging of the four convicts on March 3 is highly unlikely.
