New Delhi: Malayalam news channel Asianet news apologised for bias coverage on Delhi riots followed by which the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting lifted ban imposed on them.
The media has the responsibility to follow the rules and regulations, said Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan.
The BJP has worked for the freedom of media but certain protocols were violated by them and hence a ban was imposed on these channels by the Centre, he added.
The ban on MediaOne has also lifted as there are no provisions of giving two different justices to media.
These channels were out of air for six hours. The ban was imposed from 7.30 pm on Friday.
The Information and Broadcasting (I&B) ministry said that the coverage of the Delhi riots was “biased” and their reports “towards a particular community” among other violations of the Cable TV Act.
