New Delhi: The BJP Mahila Morcha National President, Vijaya Rahatkar, has lambasted the Shiv Sena leader and Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray, for being opportunist and not being committed to Hindutva as he claims to be.
Vijaya Rahatkar questioned Uddhav Thackeray’s stand on issues intrinsic to Hindutva ideology. She said, “He did not play a role in matters of Hindutva, be it Veer Savarkar or removal of Chhatrapati Shivaji’s statue in Madhya Pradesh. Why did he not take a stand? Weren’t these Hindutva issues?”
She added, “He appropriates the issues as per convenience. When their two coalition partners (NCP and Congress)put pressure on him on issues pertaining to Hindutva, he remained silent.”
The BJP leader also accused Uddhav Thackeray for tainting the the title of ‘Hindu Hriday Samrat’ which was given to Bala Sahab Thackeray.
Vijaya Rahatkar’s statement comes in response to Uddhav Thackeraya’s comments after he visited Ayodhya. He said he had parted ways only with BJP and not with Hindutva. This made the BJP leader criticize his opportunistic stand on many Hindutva issues.
