Bhopal: The future of the Congress government in Madhya Pradesh is facing an existential crisis after 22 MLAs submitted their resignations. These MLAs are considered loyal to Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia, who himself had resigned from the primary membership of Congress party.
Responding to the mass resignation, the Speaker of Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly, N. P. Prajapati, said, “I will take action according to the established procedure of the state Assembly.”
Earlier, 19 MLAs reached the Speaker’s residence to submit their resignations. Accompanying them were Leader of the Opposition Gopal Bhargava and other BJP leaders. In total 23 MLAs have quit their post after Jyotiraditya Scindia tendered his resignation to the Congress interim President, Sonia Gandhi.
