New Delhi: The duplicity of Congress claims that the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) is against Indian Muslims was exposed when senior party leader, Kapil Sibal, admitted in Rajya Sabha that CAA will not take anyone’s citizenship.
Kapil Sibal’s statement came during a discussion about Delhi violence after the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, said that people were misled about the CAA.
Sibal said that it was not his contention that CAA will take away citizenship and clarified that he do not say that CAA will take away anyone’s citizenship.
It must be noted that the Congress’ admitting that CAA is not against anyone comes after a violent riots in Delhi took the lives of 52 Indians. The riots were triggered by anti-CAA protesters who were misled and supported by the Congress to protest against the government for implementing CAA.
Kapil Sibal then proceeded to question the National Population Register (NPR) in the Rajya Sabha to which Amit Shah replied that no documents will be asked for NPR. The Union Home Minister also invited Sibal and everyone in the House for a discussion on NPR to clear any doubts about it.
