New Delhi: The Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation about the threat of COVID-19 that has spread across the globe. He insisted about hygiene, social distancing and setting up of thousands of testing and quarantine centres. Moreover, he called upon every citizen of India to observe a ‘Janatha Curfew’ to combat the spread of the virus.

Narendra Modi said that the Janatha Curfew will be observed on the coming Sunday from 7 am to 9 pm. He appealed to everyone to stay at home during that time so that the spread of the virus is blocked.

Modi said, “I am seeking one more support from every countrymen today. This is a public curfew. Janata Curfew means for the public, curfew imposed by the public on its own. Every citizen must follow Janata Curfew on this Sunday, March 22, from 7 am to 9 pm.”

He added, “If possible, please call at least 10 people every day and tell them about the ‘Janata Curfew’ as well as the measures to prevent coronavirus.”

The Prime Minister also said that social distancing is very important and asked the senior citizens not to get out of their homes. He also asked the people to go out of the house only when it is extremely necessary.

Modi reminded the people that no vaccine has been discovered to deal with COVID-19.

The Prime Minister also announced constituting COVID-19 Economic Response Task Force led by Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman. The task force is to deal with the economic challenges arising out of the coronavirus epidemic.
