New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday lauded the hanging of convicts in the Nirbhaya case. He said that it is of utmost importance to ensure dignity and safety of women.
Taking to Twitter he said, “Justice has prevailed. It is of utmost importance to ensure dignity and safety of women. Our Nari Shakti has excelled in every field. Together, we have to build a nation where the focus is on women empowerment, where there is emphasis on equality and opportunity.”

All the four convicts of the 2012 Delhi gang-rape case was hanged today at 5.30 am in Tihar Jail. A three judge Supreme Court bench rejected the final plea by the convicts’ lawyer AP Singh to stay their execution in a late-nigh hearing.
