New Delhi: Central government’s intense efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19 seem to be showing positive results. The Union Health Ministry official said that the rate of day-wise increase in the number of COVID-19 cases has reduced. However, he added that it doesn’t mean that the government machinery has been relaxed.
Joint Secretary (Health), Lav Agarwal, made this statement while addressing a press conference. He also said that there is still no evidence to say there has been a community transmission of the infection.
Lav Agarwal said, “Community transmission phase of COVID-19 will start if the people and the government don’t work collectively and follow the guidelines. It would never happen in India if we follow social distancing and treatment properly.”
The Ministry said that the country was prepared to face the threat of the virus infection and said that 17 states have begun assigning hospitals exclusively for COVID-19 patients.
