New Delhi: The residents of Delhi are under panic after reports say that those who attended a religious gathering at Nizamuddin develop coronavirus symptoms. The religious gathering was held a few days before without any permission and was attended by 200 people.
These 200 persons are now taken to hospitals after they developed the symptoms. The police have cordoned off an area in Nizamuddin to prevent potential spread into other areas of Delhi.
A senior police official said, “After we learnt that such an event was organised, we served notice to them for violating prohibitory orders and restrictions imposed owing to lockdown to contain the spread of coronavirus.”
Already a Delhi Health Department team is on ground at Nizamuddin following the reports of people exhibiting symptoms.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson of Nizamuddin Markaz, Dr. Mohd Shoaib, said that no one has been tested positive for COVID-19.
Interestingly, the religious gathering was called when the country is observing a lockdown since 25 March. In addition, the Delhi government had imposed a ban on social and religious gathering since the beginning of this month.
