Kanpur: The lockdown due to coronavirus has given a positive impact on the quality of water in the river Ganga. According to experts, the quality of water has improved by 40-50 per cent as compared to earlier.
“There has been 40-50 percent improvement in the quality of water in Ganga,” said Dr PK Mishra, Professor at Chennai Engineering and Technology, IIT-BHU.
The reason behind the improvement is that the industries and other manufacturing units have been shut down, who usually discharge large volumes of effluents and toxic into the river ecosystem.
