Mumbai: 21 sailors of the Indian Navy have been tested positive for coronavirus and quarantined at a naval hospital in Mumbai.
The Navy has however assured that no officer or sailor serving on board any warship or submarine has been infected.
They have been quarantined at INHS Ashwini, Mumbai.
Most of the cases among these 21 are asymptomatic which means that no symptoms of the infection is projected. It is reported that a sailor has been traced as the source of infection, who was tested positive on April 7.
At the same time, contacts of 21 sailors are being traced. All 21 sailors reside in the accommodation at INS Angre, a shore-based depot that provides logistical and administrative support to naval operations of the Western Naval Command.
With 3,323 coronavirus cases, Maharashtra is the worst-hit state and Mumbai is is the worst-affected city in the country.
