Mumbai: The magnificent actor Irrfan Khan passed away on Wednesday in Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, where he was being treated for an colon infection.
Just hours ago, the actor’s spokesperson said in a statement that Mr Khan was “still fighting the battle.”
Khan, in 2018 was diagnosed with neoroendocrine tumour, a rare form of cancer that can affect various parts of the body and had been under medical treatment for the same.
“I trust, I have surrendered”; These were the some of the many words that Irrfan expressed in a heart-felt note he wrote in 2018 opening up about his fight with cancer, read a statement released on behalf of his family.
Irrfan Khan is survived by his wife Sutapa and two sons.
Irrfan Khan was last seen in Angrezi Medium, which released a little over a week before the lockdown was imposed in India.
Khan is considered to be one of the finest actors of Bollywood. He is best known for his performance in films like ‘Maqbool’ and ‘Piku’. To his credit he also earned a National Award for his super powerful act in sports drama “Paan Singh Tomar”.
