Ayodhya: Carved pillars, Shivling, broken idols of deities excavated during construction of Ram temple

Ayodhya: Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra on Wednesday said that ever since the basic work for construction of Ram Temple began in Ram Janmabhoomi, many objects have been discovered during excavation.

The remains of Hindu stone sculptures, including a Shivling, broken-idols of Hindu deities, and carved pillars have been found near the site.

The objects also included various archaeological artefacts and stone pillars with carvings of flowers, Kalash, Aamalak, etc, said Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra trust.

“During the excavation, a 5 feet Shivaling, 7 pillars of Black touchstone, 6 pillars of red sandstone & broken idols of Devi-Devtas have also been discovered,” tweeted Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra.

“The work started on May 11, 2020. Since then many objects have been discovered during excavation. It include many objects of archaeological importance like flowers made of stone, Kalash, Aamalak, Dorjamb etc.,” the Trust said.

On Tuesday, the Uttar Pradesh government had allowed construction activity to resume the work, which was put on hold due to coronavirus lockdown.
