New Delhi: After US President Donald Trump offered to mediate to resolve ongoing face-off between Ladakh (India) and China, sources close to government said that there have been no talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Trump over the issue.
Trump said that he spoke with Narendra Modi about the “big conflict” and asserted that the Indian Prime Minister is not in a “good mood” over the latest flare-ups between the two countries.
Speaking with the reporters in the Oval Office of the White House on Thursday, Trump said a “big conflict” was going on between India and China.
However, India denied any talks with Trump over India-China issue.
Sources told ANI,” There has been no recent contact b/w PM Modi and US President Trump. Last conversation between them was on 4 April,2020 on the subject of Hydroxycholoroquine. Yesterday, the MEA had also made it clear that we’re directly in touch with China through established mechanisms and diplomatic contact.”
India reiterated that it will resolve the issue bilaterally.
Trump on Wednesday said in a tweet that he was “ready, willing and able to mediate” between the two countries.
“We are engaged with the Chinese side to peacefully resolve it,” External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said, replying to a volley of questions at an online media briefing.
