Rajiv Gandhi Foundation received Rs 10 lakh donation from China in 2006: Report

Ever since India and China had a violent faceoff at the Galwan Valley in Eastern Ladakh, the Congress has been accusing the Modi government for the clash and questioning on China’s acquiring of lndian soil.

And the BJP has not been silent and often giving befitting reply to the Congress, accusing the latter of their fault and the agreements signed with China during UPA-I regime.

Days after a ‘secret deal’ signed with China by Congress in 2008 was exposed, yet another fact on intimate links of the party with China has emerged. It is revealed that the Chinese government had donated Rs 10 lakh to the ‘Rajiv Gandhi Foundation’ in 2006 to give ‘financial assistance’ to its charities.

However, it is not surprising that the trustees of the foundation are Sonia Gandhi, Gandhi-scion Rahul Gandhi, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, P Chidambaram and Priyanka Gandhi.

According to a report by OpIndia, it said that the Chinese Embassy in India website read, “To show the friendly sentiments of the Chinese people towards the Indian people, Mr. Sun Yuxi, Chinese Ambassador to India, on behalf of China Charity Foundation, donated 10 lakh rupees to Rajiv Gandhi Foundation on January 27 to give financial assistance to its charities.”

Manmohan Malhoutra, who was the Secretary-General of the foundation had received the funds on behalf of the Sonia Gandhi-headed Rajiv Gandhi Foundation.

The question here is why would Congress-ruled UPA government in 2006 receive such a large sum from China? Does Congress actually have any links with China?
