Itanagar: In a baffling incident, the Chinese Army reportedly has kidnapped five Indian nationals on Friday in Upper Subansiri district on the Sino-India border, while they had gone hunting in a forest.
The incident came to light after two others in the group managed to escape and informed the police.
“I have sent the officer-in-charge of the Nacho police station to the area to verify the facts and directed him to report immediately. However, the report will be available only by Sunday morning,” Superintendent of Police Taru Gussar said.
Pasighat West MLA Ninong Ering on Saturday morning tweeted, “SHOCKING NEWS: Five people from Upper Subansiri district of our state Arunachal Pradesh have reportedly been ‘abducted’ by China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA).”

The alleged abductions come at a time when during the heightened tensions at the border in Eastern Ladakh. India had thwarted China’s attempts to occupy Indian territory in the southern bank of Pangong lake recently. India has further increased the military presence in the region.
