New Delhi: On the occasion of Engineer’s Day, Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid tributes to the father of Indian engineering Bharat Ratna M Visvesvaraya on his 159th birth anniversary.
“Tributes to prolific engineer & statesman, Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya on his jayanti,” tweeted Shah.
At the same time, Shah also wished Engineers who have contributed significantly in the development of nation.
“On #EngineersDay, I salute our talented & skilled engineers who have contributed significantly in the development of nation. India is proud of their pioneering works all across the world,” he added.

September 15 is celebrated as Engineer’s Day in India, to mark the birth anniversary of Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, the engineering pioneer of India.
Sir MV was a civil engineer and statesman and the 19th Diwan of Mysore. He received India’s highest honour, the Bharat Ratna, in 1955. He is held in high regard as a pre-eminent engineer of India.
