New Delhi: In a major backlash for controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik, the Government of India is mulling to impose a ban on his Peace TV channel, mobile App and its YouTube channel for inciting religious sentiments.
According to Home Ministry, the Intelligence Bureau (IB) has stated that Naik uses his channels to radicalise innocent Muslim youths and recruit them for Anti-India activities. The IB also states that he has close links with Jihadi groups and is funded by Arab countries.
Peace TV and Peace TV Urdu, the television channels owned by Naik, were slapped with a fine of Rs 2.75 crore or GBP 300,000 in the United Kingdom.
