New Delhi: Senior BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani on Wednesday welcomed the verdict by the special CBI court after being acquitted in the Disputed Structure demolition case.
“I wholeheartedly welcome the judgement by the special court in the case. The judgement vindicates my personal and BJP’s belief and commitment toward the Ram Janmabhoomi movement,” the senior leader said.
“It is a very important decision and a matter of happiness for us. When we heard the news of the court’s order, we welcomed it by chanting Jai Shri Ram,” Advani said.
“I also feel blessed that this judgment has come in the footsteps of another landmark verdict of the Supreme Court given in November 2019, which paved the way for my long cherished dream of seeing a grand Ram Mandir at Ayodhya, the foundation-laying ceremony of which was held on August 5,” Advani, 92, said in a statement.
The Special CBI court on Wednesday pronounced the verdict of 1992 case stating that there are no proofs for conspiracy. The CBI has failed to prove that there was a conspiracy to bring down the disputed structure in 1992.
Special CBI Court observed that the 1992 disputed structure demolition was not pre-planned and happened in the spur of the moment.
“Anti-social elements brought down the structure. The accused tried to stop the demolition,” said special CBI judge SK Yadav, saying that audio and video evidence produced by the CBI did not establish the charges against the leaders.
