Patna: The first phase of polling for Bihar Assembly elections began at 7 am on Wednesday in 71 constituencies across 16 districts.
As many as 1,066 candidates are contesting the election including 42 from Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), 35 from Janata Dal (United), 29 from BJP, 21 from Congress and 8 from Left parties.
At the same time, the election is underway with all precautionary measures for coronavirus. Polling booths were also sanitised ahead of the voting.
Five per cent voter turnout recorded till 8 am in the first phase of Bihar Assembly Election 2020, ANI reported. More than two crore voters in Bihar are eligible to exercise their franchise today.
