Kochi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate the Kochi-Mangaluru Natural Gas Pipeline to the Nation on Tuesday via video conferencing. Kerala Governor Arif Muhammad Khan, Karnataka Governor Vajabhai Wala, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Karnataka Chief Minister B S yedurappa, Central Minister Dharmendra Pradhan are few of the officials who will be present in the occassion.
The 354 km pipeline from will start from the main station Koottanad to Mangalore. The pipeline from Kochi to Koottanad via Thrissur was commissioned in June 2019. The gas will be piped to Mangalore from the LNG re-gasification terminal in Kochi.
The project costing `3000 crore is eco-friendly. The GAIL pipeline also delivers low-cost natural gas to homes and industries. The Gas Authority of India had achieved a historic feat by bringing natural gas from Kochi to Mangalore.
