New Delhi: As the Covid 19 vaccination drive is all set to begin in the country from 16, SpiceJet on Tuesday carried the country’s first consignment of Covishield from Pune to Delhi.
The first consignment consists of 34 boxes and weighs 1,088 kilograms.
In a statement given to ANI, Sandip Bhosle of SB Logistics said that “The first flight will leave for Delhi from Pune airport. A total of 8 flights- two cargo flights and other regular passenger flights will carry the vaccines. All vaccines will be dispatched by 10 am”.
The vaccines will be stored in 13 locations across the country including Delhi, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Guwahati, Chennai, Lucknow, Karnal, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Kolkata and Bhubaneshwar.
Around 3 crore healthcare and frontline workers will be vaccinated in the first phase and those above 50 years and those under 50 years with other illnesses will be vaccinated in the second phase of the vaccination drive which will start in the country from 16 January.
