New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated India’s vaccination drive against Covid 19 via video conferencing. Labelled as the world’s largest vaccination programme, the drive will be held daily from 9 am to 5 pm and aims to vaccinate around three crore health care and frontline workers in the first phase.
The vaccination drive in the country will use Co-WIN (Covid Vaccine Intelligence Work), an online digital platform developed by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The platform will facilitate real-time information of vaccine stocks, storage temperature and individualised tracking of beneficiaries of Covid-19 vaccine. Other than this, a 24×7 call centre (1075) has also been set up for addressing the queries related to the pandemic, vaccine roll out and the Co-WIN software.
India has currently approved the restricted emergency usage of two vaccines. Covishield developed by the Serum Institute of India along with the Oxford and Bharat BioTech’s Covaxin were given approval by the DCGI earlier this month.
