Pune [Maharashtra]: A fire broke out at the Pune Serum Institute on Thursday where India’s Covid 19 vaccine manufacturing is being carried out.
According to officials, a fire broke out at Terminal 1 gate and the firer continues to rage at the fourth and fifth floors of SEZ3 building inside the Terminal gate 1.
The officials have confirmed that the vaccine and the manufacturing plant are safe even though they refused to make a comment on how the fire broke out.
“Fire in the serum institute happened at the Manjari plant. It is not going to affect Covishield vaccine production”, said the sources to ANI.
About 10 fire tenders have rushed to the Serum Institute and the operations to douse the fire are still underway.
